Hello and welcome to my blog.
last week, geeks from all over the world celebrated the 31st anniversary of the science fiction comedy TV show, Red Dwarf.
Red Dwarf is the adventures, or should I say the miss-adventures of the crew of the Jupiter Mining Corporation ship Red Dwarf. The crew consists of, Dave Lister, the last surviving human being. Arnold J Rimmer, a hologram of one of Lister’s dead crew mates. Cat, a creature who evolved from Lister’s cat Frankenstein and a Service Mechanoid named Kryten who the crew rescued from the wreckage of a space ship called The Nova 5.
I can’t believe that it’s been 31 years since it first aired. I can remember watching it when I was in high school. It’s one of those shows that I just fell in love with the first time I saw it and I still watch it from time to time.
One particular episode that I watch a lot is the first episode of season 3, Backwards. Rimmer and Kryten are sucked into a time hole while Kryten is attempting to complete his piloting test. They crash land on a planet that looks very much like Earth, however time is running backwards. Kryten is flying one of Red Dwarfs shuttle craft, Star Bug 1.
After searching for Rimmer and Kryten for three weeks, Lister and Cat come across the same time hole and fly Star Bug 2, into it. They soon find Star Bug 1 and begin to search for Rimmer and Kryten. I will not go any further with my description of Backwards because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who hasn’t seen it. All I will say is, at the end of the ep I feel very sorry for Cat.
So, let’s all raise a glass of recycled water for The Boys of the Dwarf.
Well, that’s all for today.
I hope that you all have a great weekend and a wonderful week to come.
Until next time
Smile, run and be kind to all.
Regards
Jason Kevin Groves
