2022 is going to be a very busy year. My first goal is to get my pod cast/ YouTube Channel, Coffee with a Geek started. My hope is to have the first episode uploaded in mid-March.
The idea behind Coffee with a Geek is to explore subjects, which some people might see as geeky. This could be subjects ranging from stories about people explore and protect the natural world to people who explore the final frontier, space.
We will also be exploring the creative side of geek. Everything from movies to gaming and cos play. 2022 is going to be a huge year in the world of the geeky. There are so many geeky movies and TV shows due for release this year. In many was this could be seen as a golden age for geeks, but more about that next week.
Besides Coffee with a Geek, I am also going to be working on a biography of Australia’s first Science Fiction author, Robert Potter. Potter was a minister in the Anglican Church in the late 19th century.
In 1892, Potter’s first and only sci-fi novel, The Germ Growers was published. It details alien contact in the Australia bush and pre dates H G Wells and The War of the World by five years. In a few weeks, I will be writing a blog going into more detail about Potter. He was a fascinating character and in many ways, he was the Father Bob of his time.
I also plan on holding a geek themed event in Warrnambool in October to raise money for Beyond Blue called The Geek Ball. This event has been in the planning for a while, but because of a certain virus, which I will not name here, I have had to hold over the plan. If all goes well, the plan is to hold the ball around Halloween.
Well, that’s all this week. Next week, we will be looking at the TV shows and movies that are coming up in 2022. The aim from this week is to have at least one blog up on this site a week. They will be published on Friday mornings. I do however plan to write more blogs, if there are big geeky news stories happening on other days during the week.
Have a great weekend.
