Hello and welcome to my blog.
I am writing this blog a day early this week because tomorrow will be a travel day. I am going to Melbourne for the weekend and will not have time to write and up load it.
On the UFO front, Oumuamua was back in news this week. For those of you who do not know what Oumuamua is, in October 2017 astronomer Robert Weryk discovered the first interstellar object to be seen by humans. He found it using the Pan-STARRS telescope, which is housed in the Haleakala Observatory, Hawaii. The name Oumuamua means messenger or scout in the Hawaiian native language.
In a paper published in Astrophysical Journal Letter, which was published in late 2018 Professor Abraham Loeb and Professor Shmuel Bialy wrote that Oumuamua may be some sort of alien ship or probe. I will not go into the science here, but if you get a chance have a look at the paper. I have left a link to it at the end of this blog.
This week Professor Loeb, who is the chairman of Harvard’s Astronomical Department was standing by the theory that Oumuamua might be an alien ship or probe. As you would expect this is very controversial theory and there have been a lot of Professor Loeb’s peers who have come forward saying that they think that it is wrong. It will be very interesting to see where this story goes.
Well, that's all for today.
I hope that you all have a great weekend and a wonderful week to come.
Until next time
Smile, run and be kind to all.
